Highline Access and Anchors in America – August 2016 Meeting
The future of highlining in America depends upon our relationships with land managers (e.g., National Parks Service, US Forest Service, and the Bureau of Land Management, etc.) and other recreational enthusiasts who access public lands. More than two dozen slackliners gathered together in August to talk about the future of highline access.
This conference was offered to initiate a national conversation among highliners in order to conscientiously develop these relationships. Twenty five slackliners from 5 states gathered for 3 hours of conversation on Saturday and Sunday morning to discuss anchor methods, bolting practices and ethics, and access management followed by longlining in the afternoon. Meals and coffee were provided both days as part of the ticket price.
